News – Biden-Harris Administration – The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)

Prince William County Democrats

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This bill passed in August of 2022 during the 117th Session. It’s a huge, historic achievement by the Biden-Harris Administration for it offers many ‘gifts’ to Americans, including negotiation of Medicare drug prices, lower ACA health care premiums, lower energy costs for families, and more.

About lower energy costs, the IRA allows for:

  • A 30% tax credit ($1,200 to $2,000 per year) and different types of rebates (reaching $14,000) for homeowners who want to increase the energy efficiency of their homes.
  • Tax credits for people who want to buy an electric vehicle.

The problem is that few voters know about this tremendous ‘gift’ that they could access. Republicans might want to claw that funding back.

This election year offers an excellent opportunity to share President Biden’s accomplishments that benefit so many Americans. I therefore decided to delve into tons of materials describing the IRA, with the goal of compiling concrete information that explains to voters how they can access these tax credits and rebates to improve their home energy efficiency, or to buy an electric vehicle. See link to my compilation below. I’ve included resources and tools in this document as well that allow voters to estimate savings, to select energy efficient technologies, to find a certified energy professional, and much more.

IRA – Benefits for homeowners, tenants and drivers

Feel free to use this document as you see fit (in its entirety or only certain sections). I’m thinking that Republican voters in your district and county would benefit from getting the information as well. It’s another way to show that President Biden’s priority is to invest in Americans.

Of note, all Democrats (US Representatives and Senators) in the 117th Session voted in favor of this historic bill and all Republicans voted against it. Maybe your constituents should be made aware of this?

As always, my deepest appreciation for all the work you do.

And please, do let me know how I can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

PS:

About the rebates for home energy improvements –

Funding has been allocated to all states, but not all states are applying to get those funds. See link below for recent updates.
