According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees more than 3 million residents of Ukraine have fled their country due to the Russian invasion of their country. More than 2 million have arrived in neighboring Poland.

In the past the residents and businesses of Northern Virginia have been extraordinarily generous to those people in need. In 2013 the Region donated nearly 14 tons of blankets and coats to Syrian refugees who fled to Turkey as the result of violence in their home country.

The need today is just as great.

When this Campaign Starts – Wednesday, March 23

This campaign will kick off on Wednesday, March 23. Locations are being set up to receive the donations so please do not bring them early as the location may not yet be prepared to accept them.

What We Need

We are asking donations for the following:

1. New/Gently Used Coats
2. New Blankets
3. New Pairs of Sweat Socks/Heavy Socks
4. New Pairs of Gloves

Where to Drop Off Your Donations

We have established donation locations around the region for you to drop off your donations. We are grateful to our local government partners and others who are actively helping in this effort. You can see the list of donation locations below.

Deadline to Donate – April 15

This effort is going to be quick paced. We ask that you donate your items no later than April 15 as the items must then be boxed and secured for shipping. We are once again grateful for Paxton Moving for their generous donation of their services in this effort.

Where the Donations Are Going

We are fortunate to have a company in Wilmington, NC that will ship these items at no cost. The items will be shipped to Poland and then make their way to those in need in both Poland and Ukraine.
