DESCRIPTION:Dear Current GMDDC Member\,\n\nThe GMDDC is in the midst of a reorganization required by our bylaws every two years.  This requires each of us to file a new application to continue our membership for two (2) years and be eligible to vote in the election of our four officers:  Chair\, Vice-Chair\, Secretary and Treasurer.  The Officer Election and Reorganization meeting will be held on December 8\, 2025\, beginning at 6:30 PM\, at Giuseppe’s in Haymarket.  There will also be a virtual option sent out at a later date.\n\nPlease note:  Unless you have filled out a new membership application and are voted in at the December 8th meeting\, you will not be able to vote even if you are present in person or online.  Please try to do this in advance as we don’t want to have to slow down the process that evening if it can be avoided.  The link to the Membership Application is here:  JOIN THE GMDDC.\n\nOur current officers (see position descriptions below) are as follows:\n\nChair: Mark Leighton\nVice-Chair: Marc Etchepare\nSecretary- Linda David\nTreasurer- Gene Klein\n\nTo date\, only one of the officers has definitely decided not to run again\, and that is Gene Klein\, Treasurer.  So that position is open and will need to be filled.\n\nIf you are interested in running for any of the positions please submit a candidate statement with your name and a brief statement about why you are interested in running for one of the offices by Saturday\, November 29th to a member or members of the Nominating Committee shown below. DESCRIPTION:Information And Links\nRegular School Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month during the school year. Meetings are open to the public and begin at 7 p.m. at the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center\, 14715 Bristow Rd.\, Manassas\, VA 20112. Board members and staff have dinner at 5 p.m. and hold a closed session at 6 p.m. before the public meeting. There is Citizen Comment Period during regular Board meetings. School Board agendas are available online in advance of meetings. Agenda items and materials are subject to change up to the time of the meeting. \nSpecial meetings\, work sessions\, and public hearings are scheduled when necessary to conduct school business and are announced in advance on the school division’s website and through local news media. There is no Citizen Comment Period during special meetings or work sessions. \nClosed sessions are held before regular public meetings at 6 p.m. and are not open to the public. Items discussed in closed sessions are confined by law to personnel\, student matters\, acquisitions/disposition of real property\, legal\, and other specific matters exempted from open session under Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act. \nPursuant to School Board Policy 139\, “School Board Member Participation in Meetings by Electronic Communication\,” one or more School Board Member(s) may participate in closed or public meetings through electronic means on a limited basis. \nMeetings are broadcast live on PWCS-TV (Comcast channel 18 and Verizon Fios channel 36) and can also be viewed live online on the PWCS-TV website. Archived meetings are online on YouTube and online at the PWCS-TV website. \nPrince William County citizens\, and PWCS employees\, parents/guardians\, students\, and owners or employees of businesses or other organizations with a mailing address in Prince William County who wish to address the Prince William County School Board\, may request to be placed on the list of speakers for the citizen comment using the Citizen Comment Time Form starting at 8 a.m. on the Saturday immediately preceding the School Board meeting at which the citizen wishes to speak. Citizens who do not have access to the internet may contact the Clerk directly at 703-791-8069 prior to noon on the day of the Board meeting. You will be asked to provide your address and telephone number for the record and whether you would like your personal contact information to remain confidential. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Pre-Session Fundraiser in support of Delegate-Elect Elizabeth Guzman\, hosted by Roberta Baskin and Jim Trengrove at their home. \nElizabeth has a proven record of delivering results for the people of Virginia. Delegate Guzman is a former Delegate recently re-elected to represent the 22nd District which includes: Nokesville\, Bristow\, Gainesville\, and parts of Manassas. \nIn the legislature\, Elizabeth served in the Commerce and Energy Committee\, the Health\, Welfare and Institutions Committee\, and the Education Committee. Elizabeth introduced more than 100 bills during her time in office and served as vice chair of the education committee and chair of the subcommittee of the social services committee. \nAs a second-generation union member\, she led the fight for a “paid sick days” law so no Virginian had to choose between their health and a paycheck. She also passed historic legislation that lifted Virginia’s blanket ban on public sector collective bargaining. She has been recognized as a successful legislator by numerous advocacy organizations such as the Virginia Education Association and the Virginia League of Conservation Voters. \nNow as she prepares to return to the House of Delegates\, we want to send her off strong and well prepared to continue the fight in the legislature. \nWe’re excited to host this event on Sunday\, January 11th from 4–6 PM at the home of Roberta and Jim. DESCRIPTION:Information And Links\nRegular School Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month during the school year. Meetings are open to the public and begin at 7 p.m. at the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center\, 14715 Bristow Rd.\, Manassas\, VA 20112. Board members and staff have dinner at 5 p.m. and hold a closed session at 6 p.m. before the public meeting. There is Citizen Comment Period during regular Board meetings. School Board agendas are available online in advance of meetings. Agenda items and materials are subject to change up to the time of the meeting. \nSpecial meetings\, work sessions\, and public hearings are scheduled when necessary to conduct school business and are announced in advance on the school division’s website and through local news media. There is no Citizen Comment Period during special meetings or work sessions. \nClosed sessions are held before regular public meetings at 6 p.m. and are not open to the public. Items discussed in closed sessions are confined by law to personnel\, student matters\, acquisitions/disposition of real property\, legal\, and other specific matters exempted from open session under Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act. \nPursuant to School Board Policy 139\, “School Board Member Participation in Meetings by Electronic Communication\,” one or more School Board Member(s) may participate in closed or public meetings through electronic means on a limited basis. \nMeetings are broadcast live on PWCS-TV (Comcast channel 18 and Verizon Fios channel 36) and can also be viewed live online on the PWCS-TV website. Archived meetings are online on YouTube and online at the PWCS-TV website. \nPrince William County citizens\, and PWCS employees\, parents/guardians\, students\, and owners or employees of businesses or other organizations with a mailing address in Prince William County who wish to address the Prince William County School Board\, may request to be placed on the list of speakers for the citizen comment using the Citizen Comment Time Form starting at 8 a.m. on the Saturday immediately preceding the School Board meeting at which the citizen wishes to speak. Citizens who do not have access to the internet may contact the Clerk directly at 703-791-8069 prior to noon on the day of the Board meeting. You will be asked to provide your address and telephone number for the record and whether you would like your personal contact information to remain confidential.
